A Pear A Day Keeps The Wrinkles Away!

I’m sure most of us can agree that pears are extra yummy around the fall season. Did you know they’re also a powerhouse for your skin?
Here are just 3 reasons why Pears can save your skin this fall.

This anti-aging fruit gives your skin a big beauty boost, whether you eat it or apply it!

  1. Pears contain good amounts of vitamin A that keep your skin and hair healthy. It’s also enriched with nutrients like zeaxanthin and lutein that take part in a number of organ functions and enzymatic reactions. This also helps in keeping the skin youthful as it reduces age spots and wrinkles.

2. Pears are full of fiber, a crucial nutrient for your skin. Fiber slows the release of sugar into your blood, a good thing because repeated sugar spikes can damage collagen, a protein that keeps your complexion plump and smooth.

3. Pears also have vitamin C, which fights free radicals. So crunching on a Bosc or Bartlett a day may help keep the wrinkles away!

My favourite go-to simple recipe right now for eating Pears is to bake them! They taste like mini apple crumbles and it literally takes 10minutes to prep!

What you will need…

4 ripe pears

1/2 c. melted butter (can also use honey, coconut oil etc)

1 tbsp. cinnamon

1 c. old-fashioned rolled oats

1/2 c. Finely Chopped Almonds (Or any other nut substitute or none at all)

1/3 c. brown sugar

*(you can also cheat hardcore and use pre-made cereal granola like harvest crunch and just use some butter/honey or oil as a binder ;)

Next…

  • Preheat oven to 400º. Halve pears and scoop out some of the center to fit the oatmeal crumble.

  • In a medium bowl, combine oats, almonds, brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.

  • Spoon into pear halves.

  • Bake until pears are soft, 35 to 40 minutes.

  • Top with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream and serve warm.
